“Study me as much as you like, you will not know me, for I differ in a hundred ways from what you see me to be. Put yourself behind my eyes and see me as I see myself, for I have chosen to dwell in a place you cannot see.”

- Rumi

Thank you Lillian, Tara and Danny Dougherty for representing our family and accepting our brother's Induction Certificate on his behalf on August 10th. Four generations and 50 years of family friendship - we are blessed.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE

May the Seeds of love, planted with your music, blossom in the hearts of all.

Asım Can Gündüz was more than a musician, composer and entertainer.  He had a unique way of shining his light into the hearts of people and planting joy, enthusiasm and love.  This is why his family called him "The Prince of Love".

Who Runs this Website and Why

This website is a celebration of the life of Asim Can Gunduz, son, brother, father, and a man who contributed to the development and awareness of peace, love and joy through his music in Turkey and around the world.

It is managed and updated by his closest family members: his son Evrencan Gunduz, his sister Ally Ayse Gunduz, and his youngest sister Jeannie Gulhan Gunduz.

Our hope, as his closest living family members, is:

 To give the public a true account of the life and times of our beloved brother and father;

To promote his vision of spreading love, joy and smiles through his music; and

To give those who have special memories about Asim Can a loving forum to share their stories and post photos.

To utilise this collaborative forum between family members and the public as a creative catalyst in developing programs for positive change and musical events that will continue to spread AWESOME JOHN'S LEGACY OF LOVE.

Author Barbara Kingsolver wrote “To live is to be marked. To live is to change, to acquire the words of a story, and that is the only celebration we mortals really know.” We think this reflection is at the heart of a celebration-of-life of Asım Can Gündüz, also known to many as Awesome John.
